Sierra Leone, Independence, UNIMTECH

This milestone invites us to reflect on our national journey and the vital role education plays in shaping our future.

I also wish for mature democratic relations between our two key political parties, so that even where stark differences arise, tensions will never disrupt the peace and stability that allow our children to go to school and university. Let us emulate countries like Ghana, where politics can become heated but has never ended in violence across decades of national elections. Ghana, which once lagged behind Sierra Leone, is today ahead because it chose stability over strife. May we learn that same lesson and build a prosperous, educated, and united Sierra Leone.

The Arrogance of Power, and the Injustice of the state of the Country we call Sierra Leone at 65
Institutional unfairness, Independence, Sierra Leone

Conviction, Sentencing, and the Cost of Standing Outside the Political Circle —

The real problem is not just that power exists, but that it is so often exercised with arrogance. Too many leaders behave as though the state belongs to them, when in truth it belongs to the citizens who sustain it. That is the heart of the matter: power without humility becomes oppression, and authority without accountability becomes abuse.

The injustice of the state is visible everywhere. It appears in the gap between the privileged and the poor, in the weakness of institutions that should protect citizens, and in a system where justice can feel selective. For ordinary Sierra Leoneans, the state is often present when it demands obedience, but absent when it should deliver fairness, opportunity, and protection.

Researchers Just Mathematically Proved That AI Layoffs Will Destroy The Economy — “The AI Layoff Trap”
USA, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Layoffs, Policymakers, Pigouvian automation tax, Researchers Brett Hemenway Falk & Gerry Tsoukalas

Every company replacing workers with AI is also firing its own customers. Every laid-off employee used to spend money. When enough people lose their jobs.. Nobody can afford to buy anything. And the companies that fired everyone go bankrupt, selling products to an economy with no purchasing power.

“The AI Layoff Trap.” And every CEO already knows it. But none of them can stop. So every company automates. Knowing it's collectively suicidal. Because the alternative is dying alone while everyone else survives.

It's a Prisoner's Dilemma. And the researchers proved it mathematically.

This isn't a transfer from workers to company owners. Both sides lose. Workers lose their income. Companies lose their customers. It's a deadweight loss that harms everyone. And no market force can break the cycle.

The Bike Riders Crash, Everything Stops, Then Everything Continues
What's Up Africa, Sierra Leone, Freetown Traffic Madness

Yesterday in Freetown, I was crawling along in my car like a sensible person who actually wants to see tomorrow. The two-lane road was doing its usual thing, pretending to have rules while everybody ignored them. I was driving extra slowly because I know this city too well. At any moment, an okada (bike rider) can pop out like a jack-in-the-box, or one of those kekes (tricycles) can decide the middle of the junction is the perfect place for a U-turn. So I kept my eyes wide open, ready for anything.

Then came the real show. In front of me was the usual Freetown circus: a thick soup of people on foot trying to cross while cars, bikes, and kekes all fought for the same slice of tar. Everybody was making eye contact, as if they were playing a very serious, yet underpaid staring game. “You go.” “No, you go.” “Fine, I go first, but I am not responsible for what happens next.” Pure beautiful chaos, but somehow, by some miracle that no traffic engineer has ever been able to explain, it usually works out. Suddenly… BANG!

Bongolistically, Mallam O.

Sierra Leone, Luxury paraded as achievement, Political connection

At this point, it is not offensive. It is embarrassing. If self-awareness were currency, Admire Bio would be overdrafted.

What stands out is not the wealth, but the desperation driving it. The relentless need to show, to prove, to be seen—it is everywhere. Luxury is performed loudly and repeatedly, with an urgency that suggests there is nothing underneath it. Strip away the display, and the question becomes unavoidable: what is actually there?

All access. No awareness. No restraint. No off switch. And in a country where so many are struggling to survive, that kind of display does not read as success—it reads as contempt.

The real problem is our refusal to confront the truth. Sierra Leone has allowed weak systems and poor oversight to turn our ports into easy corridors for traffickers and criminal networks.

The trial centers on a group of 22 people accused of orchestrating or facilitating the import operation, including alleged traffickers, logistics facilitators, and intermediaries. Belgian courts are using this trial to test evidence on smuggling routes, money‑laundering channels, and whether corrupt networks inside Sierra Leone helped conceal the shipment.

What good is a kingdom if the road to it required stripping dignity from others? What good is the corner office if the climb cost your integrity? What good is dominance if it leaves a trail of human collateral damage?

According to ICE, Kallon had reportedly been undergoing correctional officer training in Delaware County at the time the charges were filed. In a separate case, 32-year-old Abdul Jalloh has been charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of 41-year-old Stephanie Minter in Fairfax County, in the state of Virginia.

The arrest was part of a coordinated operation between Ghanaian security agencies and the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation. He often showcased luxury cars, cash displays, and high-end lifestyle content. However, U.S. authorities later alleged that a romance scam network was operating behind the scenes.

Invasion of the Idiots: Umberto Eco Predicted the Apocalypse — It Just Logged In

For centuries, public discourse had filters. Newspapers had editors. Publishers relied on fact-checking. If you wanted to publish a medical claim, you needed proof. If you wanted to shape public opinion, you needed credibility. If you spread falsehoods, there were consequences.

Suddenly, anyone could reach millions. A teenager posting from a bedroom had the same platform as a seasoned academic. A conspiracy theorist could attract as much attention as a journalist who had spent months verifying facts. And the most extreme voices traveled fastest. Social media platforms do not reward accuracy. They reward engagement. Anger, fear, and absolute certainty spread better than nuance. A careful post explaining that an issue is complex and deserves thoughtful consideration rarely goes far.

We are living in the world he feared. The problem was never that foolish voices appeared. They were always present. The problem is that they are now amplified while expertise is dismissed.

European and African authorities have been locked in a high-stakes game for Jos Leijdekkers, the Dutch-born cocaine trafficker widely known by the alias Bolle Jos. Convicted in absentia and on Europol’s most-wanted list, Leijdekkers remains a fugitive — eluding capture and drawing fresh international scrutiny as law enforcement ramps up efforts to bring him to justice.

The Netherlands has formally requested Leijdekkers’ arrest and extradition from Sierra Leone, but progress has been slow and complicated by politics and legal barriers.

While Leijdekkers remains free, remnants of the Dutch organized crime underworld continue to make headlines. Ridouan Taghi, once the Netherlands’ most-wanted fugitive linked to the notorious Mocro Maffia network, was arrested in the United Arab Emirates in 2019 and sentenced to life in prison after a landmark trial known as the Marengo case.

The Tucker Carlson Network Documentary: 'Replacing Europe: Following the World's Deadliest Migration Route'
What's Up Africa, Illegal immigration, Mauritania

The narrative is that Europe is being invaded and destroyed by Africa, in a crime orchestrated by global leaders.

Released around January 2026. It follows journalist Anthony Rubin and his team as they trace a perilous illegal migration path from West Africa to Europe, highlighting dangers, smuggling networks, and alleged facilitation by NGOs and governments. Carlson mentioned that Sierra Leone comes up as one origin country for migrants converging in Mauritania before the deadly sea crossing. The film argues that this mass migration from Africa is overwhelming and transforming Europe, framed as an orchestrated ‘invasion.’

Separate U.S. reports align with a Sierra Leonean smuggler, Abdul Karim Conteh, leading networks that funneled thousands (including from Iran and Afghanistan) across the Americas to the U.S. border.

How Did Ruth Buy Her Own Freedom: A Modern Moral Story

Treating someone as disposable because they can’t produce, earn, or “add value” is the root of both old slavery and many modern injustices.

Ruth’s story was an eight-year nightmare. Sold as a child to a Virginia tobacco plantation, she had worked eighteen hours a day. Her hands were twisted, her nights filled with bloody coughing fits, and—worst of all—she had dug the graves of her three small children with her own hands. They had died of malnutrition.

Even the other slaves avoided her. “That one’s got one foot in the grave,” they whispered.

But while everyone saw a broken woman waiting to die, something extraordinary was burning behind those seemingly lifeless eyes.
